City of Brotherly Love Inspired by The City of Love...

I've never been to the famed bridge of love locks on Pont des Arts in Paris, but I've seen pictures, heard stories and watched a Hallmark movie about them. The idea of putting your name and your loved ones name on a padlock and then throwing the key in the river Seine, thus being "lovelocked" forever and attached for all time.

What an act of love....that's if you believe in that sort of thing... a tradition that actually started in Hungary not Paris, when a young women who lost her "love" in WWI and started putting padlocks on bridges where they both used to meet as an act of remembrance of their unbreakable love. Again, if you believe in that sort of thing... In 2015 the locks started to be removed based on a petition started by, ironically two Americans in Paris wanting to save the historical bridges...thus no more locks...in Paris.

Oh, but now the tradition continues in the City of Brotherly Love, my home away from home, Philly. I was down in the waterfront area hanging out with friends and we were doing the touristy thing at Penns Landing. As we walked, this wall of locks just appeared, and right away I was back in that Hallmark movie with Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell sans the soundtrack and bicycles. So, I had to find out more. I learned it was a gift from Dan and Sarah Keating to bring a love lock ritual to their hometown of Philadelphia. "The fence was created to celebrate love and hope and is a place where anyone and everyone can tell their story."

I wish I had a lock that day to share my story, and next time I'm in Philly I will be sure to have one because...

I do believe in that sort of thing...

I believe in hope...

I believe in love...

I believe!
